Why Website Design Pricing Varies?

If you’re a business owner who’s thinking about having a website created for your company, one of the first questions you may have is “How much does it cost to build a website?” But unfortunately, there is no simple answer to this question. Website design pricing varies greatly due to many factors and determinants. In this blog post, we will discuss why website design pricing fluctuates so drastically and how understanding these variables can help you make an informed decision when selecting the right web designer or agency for your needs.

Choose the right designer

When it comes to websites, people often expect a one-size-fits-all pricing model. But the truth is, website design pricing can vary wildly depending on the company you go with. Graphic design plays a large role in website design and its pricing – each company may have different levels of graphic expertise or use different programs, which could affect the types of features they can offer and the cost associated with them. Also, the level of job needed for the design can impact the price you get.

Do your research ahead of time by looking into the services offered and getting information on their pricing plans before deciding who to go with. It's important you find out exactly what you're looking for so that you can find the right price point for your goals.

The size of your website

Size most definitely matters when it comes to setting a price for a website, as the number of hours that need to be devoted to design versus coding can influence the overall cost. Additionally, projects with more features or larger websites may require additional resources such as more graphic designers, coders, etc., and all of these additional resources equate to added expense up front. So while size definitely plays an important role in determining pricing, rest assured it isn't always the only factor. It pays to look at pricing on a case-by-case basis and consider details such as complexity and time when budgeting for your next website job!

The features of your website

When you're looking at how much a website design is going to cost, don't forget to account for any extra features that you might want to include. An e-commerce feature for example can require intricate coding which drives up cost. Similarly, ensuring a website is optimized for search engine optimization (SEO) to rank higher on Google can also increase the overall photography, graphic design, coding and development costs.

When looking at pricing for website design projects it's important to consider what kind of features you want alongside the graphic design element and use that as an indication of project cost.

Your location

Prices of website design services can vary drastically by location. Graphic design rates tend to be higher in larger cities where a large pool of highly-skilled professionals are available, while smaller towns may have lower prices due a lack of competition. Even between cities, pricing can differ significantly; what costs hundreds in one area might go for only tens in another.

When looking into website design rates, it always pays to compare the different packages and offers of several providers so that you get the best pricing and best quality service for your money. Also, when you’re deciding who to hire to design a web site for your business, there are a few questions you should consider before making your final decision.

First, what kind of graphic design experience do they have? Graphic design is an essential component for creating websites that look great and communicate effectively with their users. Understanding the nuances of visual branding and translating this knowledge into digital format requires specific skillsets. Make sure you ascertain that the person or company you're looking to hire has a good understanding of graphic design principles, practices and trends.

Additionally, ask about pricing structures; do they offer flat fees or do projects on an hourly basis? Get a clear estimate of what will be required financially so that you can budget for the project accordingly. With these questions in mind, you'll be better prepared to find the web designer who can make your business shine online.

In summary...

Website design prices vary depending on many factors, but it’s important to remember that you get what you pay for. A high-quality website design company will take the time to understand your unique business needs and create a custom solution that meets those needs.

A Note From the Author

As a business owner, brand strategist, and graphic designer I run in to questions and ideas every day.

As the owner of Norris Design, I started out wanting to solely be a designer, but education changed the way I thought, the way I viewed business and the way I viewed my role in helping other's businesses.

Graphic design will always be my original love, but as I grew in knowledge, I realized the small view of design for the sake of something beautiful was such a disservice to businesses.

Businesses needed much more than just graphic design.  They needed to see the bigger picture of their businesses from the perspective of a designer.  Once I realized that branding had a huge role in large businesses that see amazing success but very few small businesses even think about branding or brand strategy, I realized that if I could offer a brand strategy view as a consultant rather than just an order taker graphic designer, I could actually move the needle in their businesses.

This is the beginning of where I started to fall in love with business, marketing, branding, brand strategy, consulting and brand building.

It all started with education after college.

I obsessively read articles, listened to podcasts, watched videos, read books, and took classes.  This was to fulfill this desire to be more involved in the businesses side of design rather than just design alone.

So, this is why I wright. I appreciate other people's perspective and I hope that one day, mine can help someone else.
